Bio
David Charles Barudin is the 2022 Golden NIb winner in fiction awarded annually by the Virginia Writers Club, and a former finalist for the prize. His fiction and nonfiction have appeared in popular, trade, and literary magazines. A novel and collection of short stories which includes the fiction prize-winner are available on Amazon in eBook and paperback. A second novel will be released on Amazon in spring, 2025. David holds an MA from the Hollins University Writing Program (1980) and a BS in Economics from Penn’s Wharton School of Finance (1969). The author and his wife live in Roanoke, VA. He’s a member of the Valley Writers Club.

A novel set on the Hawaiian island of Maui during the winter of 1975-76. An accurate depiction of Lahaina and West Maui prior to major development on the island. A cast of colorful characters, local and mainland "haoles" connect in a series of adventures and subplots that feature the island's history, culture, legends, lifestyle and lore. "The King's Trail" seeks to capture the spirit of the island and its local ambiance at a time when Maui and Lahaina was a crossroads for vagabond travelers, seekers, ex-hippies, musicians and young entrepreneurs.
