Riverside Writers started the new year with a presentation by Austin Camacho on the Creatures, Crime and Creativity yearly conference and the ways conference participation can benefit budding writers in all genres, followed in February by a visit from A. E. Bayne and her colleagues to talk about their work with the Fredericksburg Literary and Arts Review and the Fredericksburg Independent Authors Festival in which we will participate this fall. Our March open reading featured new work in poetry and prose from our members, including some new folks who joined up. April saw the Annual Larry Turner Celebration of Poetry, with special guests Bill Glose and Kathy Smaltz, along with a lively slam competition won by Aaron Barlow. We look forward to Chris Kennedy's presentation in May on Self-Publishing for Profit and Warren Rochelle speaking in June on Fantasy Around the 'Burg.
The chapter continues to hold weekly critique sessions Monday nights (7PM) at the Spotsylvania Mall Books-a-Million and monthly poetry salons at various venues announced on the website. Visit us also on Facebook.
