James W. Morrison

James W. MorrisonJames W. Morrison: Jim, who is retired from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, is a writer of history, drama, international affairs, short stories, essays, and poetry, some of which have been published and won awards in regional writing contests. His book, Bedford Goes to War: the Heroic Story of a Small Virginia Community in World War II, was released in May 2004. A historical drama which he wrote on the same subject was presented in Bedford County in 2000 and 2001. Two earlier books were on policy toward Russia and NATO. He also writes for Blue Ridge Traditions Magazine. He has served as president of the VWC, past president of its Valley Writers Chapter, and founder of the Lake Writers at Smith Mountain Lake. He is prepared to talk about the VWC, the value of writers groups, his journey as a writer, his work on Bedford and WWII, and the craft of writing.
