     Welcome!

    This is a brief description of the Virginia Writers Club website. Please use the navigation to the left to find your way around the site. Descriptions of the various sections are outlined below.

    We hope you find the VWC site a useful tool for connecting with other writers, improving your craft, and promoting your writing.

    Website Sections

    About Us contains our mission and vision statements as well as a chapter list (with contact information for chapter representatives).

    Announcements contains information about our contests, contest winners, events, and other significant items. (Viewable by the public)
     
    Events contains the club's calendar and is where you may register for selective occasions such as the club's Annual Meeting. Contained within the Events area is our Contests page where you can read more on upcoming contests held by the VWC.
     
    Chapters contains a list of each chapter, as well as a page for each, with descriptions of their meetings and activities. Anyone interested in locating a chapter can do so by browsing this section.

    Members contains several important areas of interest:
    • The Member Directory is a comprehensive list of all VWC members. Basic information (name, chapter, website) is publicly available, while more specific items are available only to members (contact information). Readers may click through to a member's profile page to learn more (including more detailed information such as bio and book descriptions).

    • Member News is a forum-style page where VWC members can announce news of importance to writers in the club, whether of a personal (book signing, speaking engagement) or public (festival, conference) nature. The forum is viewable by the public, but only members may create entries.

    • Members in Print is an automated list of all members and their publications who have entered a description of their work on their profile page (created automatically when you register and editable by you at any time).  Viewable by the public.

    • Speakers Bureau is another automated list of VWC members who have agreed to be included in this category, either in their membership application or through updating their profile page. Members who agree to be considered Speakers agree to be have their contact information displayed (as chosen on their profile page). Viewable by the public.
    Join now is where non-members may apply for membership. 
     
    Young Writers is a description of the VWC Young Writers Club and includes benefits and application information.

    Forums is a section where VWC members may connect with others to discuss certain aspects of craft, ask questions about publication, and generally keep a healthy dialogue about writing alive. Please contact the webmaster if you don't see a general forum topic listed.
     
    Archives provides links to meeting minutes and press releases

    News Blog serves to provide the latest news in RSS format. You can subscribe to our RSS feed and have instant updates at your fingertips for your computer or mobile device, or just log-on as usual and click on the "Member-Only" button to read the news when it's convenient. We recommend utilizing the RSS subscription to save you time and be "in the know" as soon as the news is posted!
     
    Now that you know more about the site, consider going to your own profile page and make sure your personal information is current and correct.
